Ryan Dreikosen of Marian men's bowling and senior
Ashley Welk of Marian women's soccer have been named the Sabres of the Month for October.
Dreikosen (Grafton, Wis.) had an impressive start to the season as the Marian men's bowling season starts to pick up. He opened the month with a 17th place finish at the Midwest Collegiate Championships after averaging 223.8 over six games. Dreikosen then led Marian to a fourth-place finish at the first GLBC event but finished atop the leaderboard after averaging 234.5 pins over six games. Then at the second GLBC event, Dreikosen helped lead Marian to move up a spot and take third place after an individual finish of eighth. He would average 202.8 over six games. On the season, Dreikosen is averaging 219.0 over four events and 23 total games.
Welk (Mount Prospect, Ill.) closed out an impressive career with the Sabre women's soccer program finishing sixth on the all-time scoring list. It took Welk just 60 games to record 93 total points coming from 39 goals and 15 assists. Her 39 scores are also good for fifth on the all-time goal scoring list at Marian with her eight game-winners putting her fifth all-time. For the month of October, Welk finished with nine points in seven games with her top performance coming against Aurora where she scored a goal with two assists. The Sabres were able to keep their NACC Tournament hopes alive with the 3-2 victory. Welk finished the season seventh in the NACC with 23 points coming from nine goals and five assists.Â
