SEWANEE, Tenn. - Marian University field hockey (7-7, 2-3 SAA) defeated Sewanee 10-0 to close out the regular season.

After a scoreless first quarter, Marian was able to take a 2-0 edge into halftime after freshmen Allyson Nichols and Olivia Henderson each scored.  The Sabres then had their biggest quarter of the season scoring five times in the third quarter.  Freshman Merel Nagelkerke and Nichols each scored twice in the quarter, while freshman Eva Houtackers had the fifth.  The final quarter then saw freshman Jikke Biemans open the scoring before Houtackers and Nagelkerke each scored.

Marian only allowed two shots as they outshot the Tigers 24-2.  Nichols had 10 shots to lead Marian, nine of which were on goal, while junior Brenna Abrahamson made one save in the shutout.

Marian opens the SAA Tournament Friday, November 4 from Centre College.
