FOND DU LAC - A tough night defensively saw Marian University NCAA men's hockey (1-1-0, 0-0-0-0 NCHA) fall to Concordia College by a 7-3 final.
The Cobbers were able to strike first with a pair of goals separated by just 2:04. A power-play goal from junior
Ty Mosimann with 5:22 left to play cut the Sabre lead in half, assist to senior
Blake Kleiner. This proved to be all the scoring for the opening period.
The second period played out almost identical with the Cobbers scoring the first two goals of the period and Marian finding the back of the net once. Freshman
Adam Nobes was the Marian scorer and he lit the lamp with just 2:02 left in the period. Senior
Jack Sampson and freshman
Jaymes Knee each earned an assist.
Marian scored just 48 seconds into the third period to trail just 4-3 when Mosimann found the back of the net with an assist to sophomore
Nick Cherkowski. The Cobbers would manage to respond with three goals, with one being an empty-net score and one coming on the power-play.
The Sabres were outshot 32-30 in the loss with freshman
Matthew Shaw recording a team-high five shots. Junior
Aaron Brunn (0-1-0) made 25 saves in the defeat.
Marian hits the road for Adrian to open NCHA play Friday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. (CST).
