RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Marian University women's soccer (4-5-3, 3-3-2 NACC) scored early in the second half of a 1-1 draw at Concordia Chicago.
The Cougars were able to score first in a match that saw both keepers stand out. CUC was able to find the back of the net at the 34:25 mark and took that lead into halftime. The Sabres were able to force a penalty 2:51 into the second half and senior
Ashley Welk buried the penalty shot for her sixth goal of the season. The goal also put her into a tie for seventh place on the all-time scoring list with 86 career points. Â
Marian outshot the Cougars 12-11 in the second half and created several quality chances late but couldn't find the go-ahead score. Concordia Chicago finished the game with a 19-17 advantage in shots with each team sending nine shots on frame. Freshman

Amy Birner (2-4-3) stopped eight shots in goal including all six shots she faced in the second half.
Marian returns home to host CUW Wednesday, Oct. 12 for a 7 p.m. kick-off.
