FOND DU LAC - Marian University ACHA D3 (0-2-0) had a tough time slowing down Hope falling 10-2 and 11-2 in the first games of the season.
Jackson Sweeney scored in the opening period as the Sabres and Hope were tied 1-1 after one period in the opener. Hope then scored eight goals in the second period to pull away from the Sabres.Â
Eric Sessoms was able to score a power-play goal for the Sabres in the second period. Sam Gasienca was in goal for Marian with shots not recorded on the box score.
Marian was once again able to stick around in the first period in game two but a late push gave Hope a sweep. Angelo Maxey lit the lamp for Marian in the opening period as the Sabres were tied with Hope 1-1 after 20 minutes. Hope then scored four goals in the second period and six goals in the third period to pull away. Sweeney was able to score once again in the third period. Jake Grabarek took the loss in goal with shots not recorded on the box score.
Marian next travels to Northwestern Oct. 14-15.
