Marian men's hockey earns win over CUW in overtime

FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's hockey (3-2-0, 1-1-1-0 NCHA) needed overtime but defeated Concordia Wisconsin 2-1.

  • Concordia Wisconsin was able to get out to a hot start scoring on the first shot of the game.
  • The Falcons led 1-0 at the first intermission despite being outshot 16-11.
  • Marian finally found the back of the net when junior Alex Rondeau scored on a 5-on-3 power play at the 7:09 mark of the second period.  Senior Jack Sampson and freshman Adam Nobes each earned an assist.
  • The Sabres outshot CUW 12-8 in the second period as the squads were tied going into the final period.
  • The Marian penalty kill held CUW scoreless on three power plays in the third period leading to overtime.
  • Sophomore Jaymes Knee would find the back of the net at the 2:05 mark with an assist to Rondeau to earn the extra point.
