Sabre women's hockey drops defensive battle to CUW

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's hockey (0-5-1, 0-3-0-1 NCHA) dropped the final game of the season series with CUW by a 2-1 final.

  • Both defenses dominated the opening period as the two squads combined for only 10 shots on goal, five each, with neither team scoring.
  • Senior Brooke Anderson was able to break the scoreless tie 2:06 into the second period on a Sabre power play with her second goal of the season.  Sophomore Sydney Schipper and freshman Aubriella Westphal each earned an assist.
  • This lead wouldn't last long, however, as the Falcons scored just 1:47 later with the 1-1 tie holding into the third period. 
  • The Falcons were able to find the back of the net with their penalty-kill unit at the 2:01 mark of the final period to take the lead for good.

  • The Sabre penalty kill held CUW scoreless on four chances, while the Marian power play was 1-for-4.
