MILWAUKEE - Three student-athletes from the Marian women's soccer program have been named All-NACC, as announced by the league office.
Senior
Ashley Welk (Mount Prospect, Ill.) had another impressive season earning a second-team selection. The midfielder led the Sabre offense scoring nine goals with five assists for 23 total points. She earned one NACC Offensive Player of the Week award after posting a hat trick against Wisconsin Lutheran and scoring a goal against Rockford. She also had a strong performance in a must-win game against Aurora where she scored a goal and had a pair of assists to lead Marian to a 3-2 victory at home. Welk closes out her career sixth on the Marian all-time scoring list with 39 goals and 15 assists for 93 total points in just 60 games of action.
Senior
Meghan Batzner (Oostburg, Wis.) earns the second honorable mention all-conference award of her career. Batzner would score eight goals on the season and added a pair of assists for 18 total points. She proved to be a timely goal scorer with three of her goals serving as game-winners. Batzner had three multi-goal games including a hat trick at Ripon that highlighted a stretch of 10 points in the first five games of the season. Her other multi-goal games came in back-to-back victories for the Sabres with Marian defeating Aurora at home and Lakeland on the road.
Senior
Amy Birner (Waukesha, Wis.) was solid in goal for Marian and is named an all-conference selection for the first time in her career earning honorable mention recognition. Birner went 3-5-4 on the season posting a 1.28 goals-against average with 62 total saves. She also ranked third in the NACC this season with her save percentage that finished at 80.5-percent. Birner had a pair of double-digit save performances with a season-best 12 coming at home against Concordia Wisconsin. She also made seven saves against UW-Oshkosh in a 1-1 draw against the Titans.
This marks the third consecutive season Marian women's soccer has had at least three All-NACC selections.Â
