Offensive woes continue as Sabre NCAA men's hockey swept by Oles

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - A tough second period was the difference as Marian University NCAA men's hockey (3-6-0, 1-2-1-0 NCHA) was swept by St. Olaf 4-2.

  •  The opening period was balanced as each team had 12 shots but neither team was able to find the back of the net.
  • St. Olaf then scored the first three goals of the game, one on the power play, with all of the scores coming in the second period.
  • Marian was able to cut its deficit down to 3-1 late in the second with a power-play goal from sophomore Nick Cherkowski.  The goal was his fourth of the season and he was assisted by junior Nolan Kadachuk and senior Jack Sampson.
  • The Oles extended their lead out to 4-1 with the first goal of the third period.
  • The Sabres were able to score with an empty net on the other end of the ice from sophomore Daunte Fortner with 2:24 left to play.  Sophomore Jaymes Knee and junior Alex Rondeau each assisted the goal.
