CHESTERFIELD, Mo. - Marian University ACHA D3 (1-5-0) fell to Maryville 9-4 before earning a split with a 4-2 win.
The Sabre defense had a tough time in the opener as Maryville scored seven goals in the first two periods.Â

Alex Lindeman scored a pair of goals between the first 40 minutes with his second score coming on a power play. Lindeman was able to complete the hat trick in the third period with Maryville scoring two more goals. Marian was outshot 54-34 in the loss with Jake Grabarek making 45 saves.
A strong start saw Marian pull away early and never look back in the first win of the season.Â
Cole Hales-Main was able to score his second goal of the season before Lindeman continued his strong weekend with a pair of goals as Marian led 3-1 after the first period. Maryville cut the lead down to one with a goal in the second period but Brayden Grassi was able to score in the third period to give Marian enough breathing room for the win. Sam Gasienca stood on his head making 45 saves to earn the win in goal.
Marian continues a length road trip at Lake Superior State Nov. 11-12.
