FOND DU LAC - Marian University ACHA D2 (4-8-1, 1-0-0-1 NCHL) was defeated by Lindenwood 6-4 and 3-2 in a non-conference series.
The Sabres were able to take advantage of power-play opportunities in the opener as
DJ Horne scored three power-play goals between the first two periods. This helped lead Marian to a 3-3 draw after the first 40 minutes of action. The Lions were able to dominate in the third period, however, scoring three times with Gavyn Galloway scoring to put the final at 6-4.
Marian could only manage 15 shots in the defeat with
Will McCreight making 31 saves in goal.
Marian was able to hold a 1-0 lead after two periods in the finale of the series but Lindenwood was once again able to rally in the third period. A goal from
Dom Pajor stood as the lone goal after 40 minutes only to have the Lions score three times in the final period.Â
Zach Wilson was able to score in the third period as well to put the final at 3-2.Â
Tyler Studant earned an assist on each Marian goal. McCreight was able to make 45 saves with one of the goals he allowed coming on a power play.
Marian takes on UW-Oshkosh in an inter-division NCHL series Nov. 11-12 with Marian hosting the Titans Saturday, Nov. 12 at 3:45 p.m.
