Sabre women's basketball falls in final game of first half

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's basketball (2-7, 1-3 NACC) fell to Lawrence 79-65 in the final game of the first half of the season.

  • Lawrence opened with a 7-6 lead before Marian scored eight unanswered to go ahead 14-7 with 3:00 left in the first quarter.
  • The Vikings responded with eight unanswered points of their own to take a 15-14 advantage into the second quarter.
  • After Marian tied the game at 19-19 to open the second stanza, Lawrence responded with a 15-3 run to go ahead 34-22.
  • This allowed Lawrence to take a 41-30 lead into halftime.
  • The Sabres came out firing to open the third quarter using a 14-2 run to take the lead at 46-45 to open the third quarter.
  • Once again, however, Lawrence was able to end the quarter strong with a 10-3 spurt to take a 56-49 lead into the fourth.
  • Lawrence was able to use the momentum from the end of the third to take a 65-50 lead to open the final quarter and cruise to a 79-65 win.
