Thunder comeback to defeat Sabre women's hockey

ANGOLA, Ind. - Marian University women's hockey (0-6-1, 0-4-0-1 NCHA) allowed four unanswered goals to drop the series opener at Trine 4-3.

  • The Sabres jumped all over the Thunder in the opening period taking a 3-0 lead.
  • Junior Aeryn Olson opened the scoring at the 10:35 mark with an assist to fellow junior Lilly Accola. 
  • Senior Victoria Paton then lit the lamp with 4:04 left in the period with assists to freshman Logan Crawford and junior Brynn Weaver.
  • With just 16 seconds left in the period, sophomore Allie Kieffer scored her first goal as a Sabre with assists to senior Melodee Eastman and freshman Caitlin Traver.
  • The Thunder comeback began in the second period when Trine cut the deficit down to 3-1 with a short-handed goal.
  • Trine then scored three goals in the third to complete the comeback.  Two of the Thunder goals came on the power play.
