FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's basketball (2-3, 2-0 NACC) closed out the first week of NACC action with a 75-73 win over Benedictine.

• Benedictine led for most of the opening minutes taking a 16-9 lead with 12:04 left until half, their largest lead of the game.
• Marian was able to stay in the game and after Benedictine took a 25-21 lead with 4:30 on the clock, the Sabres went on a 14-5 spurt to go ahead 35-30 with 1:28 until half.
• The Eagles were able to sink a pair of free throws to only trail the Sabres 35-32 at half.
• The largest lead of the second half would only be five points, a lead Marian had twice on Benedictine.
• Benedictine held a 49-47 lead with only 12:31 left to play before Marian went on a 10-3 run to take one of their five point leads.
• The Eagles wouldn't go away quietly taking a 62-61 lead with 6:10 left to play.
• The Sabres responded taking the lead right back with a 10-4 run to go ahead 71-66 with 2:56 to play.
• Benedictine was able to tie the game at 73-73 with 31 seconds left, but on their final possession senior Tyler Gouin was able to draw a foul with four seconds left and sink a pair of free throws.
• A steal from senior Luke Rogers with 0.7 seconds remaining sealed the Sabre victory.

• Marian shot 26-of-57 (.456) from the field and 8-of-20 (.400) from beyond the arc, while Benedictine was 27-of-60 (.450) from the field and 6-of-21 (.286) from three-point land.
• Marian edged Benedictine in points off turnovers by a 13-6 margin, and the Sabres held a 34-32 advantage in rebounds.
• The Eagles were able to dominate in the paint outscoring Marian 38-22.
• There were 15 lead changes and the score was tied seven times.
• The victory was the first win for Marian over Benedictine since 2018.
