Benedictine pulls away from Sabre women's basketball in second half

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's basketball (2-4, 1-1 NACC) only trailed by four at halftime but fell to Benedictine 76-55.

  • The Sabres led for most of the opening quarter only to have Benedictine hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to take a 12-11 advantage.
  • The two squads juggled the lead to open the second quarter and the score was tied 22-22 with 2:54 left until half. 
  • Benedictine then used a quick 6-2 run to end the quarter and go ahead 28-24 at half.
  • The Sabre defense had held Benedictine to 10-of-45 (.222) shooting through the first two quarters.
  • The Eagles then forced 11 Marian turnovers in the third quarter and outscored Marian 31-13 in the stanza to pull ahead.
