Sabre women's hockey drops another defensive battle at Aurora

GENEVA, Ill. - Marian University women's hockey (6-13-2, 3-6-0-3 NCHA) suffered a sweep at Aurora falling to the Spartans 2-0 in the series finale.

The opening period looked like it would end up scoreless before Aurora was able to score with just 26 seconds remaining in the period.  The Spartans were then able to score at the 4:33 mark of the second period for what proved to be the final goal of the game.  Aurora held a 46-20 advantage in shots for the game with three different Marian skaters recording three shots on goal.  Sophomore Kayla Kolpitcke (6-13-2) would finish with 44 saves in goal marking the eighth time this season she has made at least 40 saves in a game.

Marian returns home to take on Finlandia at 8 p.m. Friday, January 11 in NCHA play.
