FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's volleyball (1-8, 1-0 NACC) opened NACC play with a sweep of Alverno with set scores of 25-14, 25-13, and 25-13.

Marian had complete control of the match and only trailed twice the entire match. After hitting .157 in the first set, Marian bounced back by hitting over .400 the next two sets. Marian's defense kept the Infernos hitting percentage under .133 in all three sets.

After a tight 5-4 start, Marian went on a 14-6 run to take a commanding 19-10 advantage.  The Sabres rode this hot start and never looked back the rest of the match.

Marian started the second set quickly by getting out to a 9-3 lead. The Sabres never looked back behind a very efficient offense hitting .407 on 13 kills and only 2 errors.  Marian was able to hold onto its momentum using an 8-0 run to easily earn the sweep.

Junior Kaitlyn Merrill paced the offense for the Sabres recording a match-high 11 kills.  Junior Reagan Jasica led the defense with 15 digs followed by senior Reagan Brown who added 11. Junior Anna Tapia led the team with 24 assists, while freshman Harley Bartels had three blocks at the net.

Marian looks to carry this momentum into the weekend opening the Viking Classic, hosted by Augustana (Ill.), against Luther and Blackburn Friday, Sept. 16.
