Marian men's soccer plays tight with receiving votes Pacific Lutheran

Box Score TACOMA, Wash. - Marian University men's soccer (0-2-0, 0-0-0 NACC) scored its first goal of the season in a 3-1 loss to a Pacific Lutheran squad that is receiving votes in the national poll.

The Lutes were able to control the pace of play in the opening half outshooting the Sabres 8-2.  Marian was able to limit Pacific Lutheran to just three shots on goal in the opening stanza, but two of those shots found the back of the net.  The Lutes wasted no time expanding the lead out to 3-0 scoring just 29 seconds into the second half.  Marian was able to settle following the goal in a competitive second half.  Junior Logan Holevas was able to find the back of the net for the first time in his collegiate career at the 75:02 mark to put the Sabres on the scoreboard.

Holevas was the lone Sabre student-athlete to record a pair of shots in the defeat.  Junior Aaron Perez (0-1-0) made five saves in his first start of the season.

Marian concludes its road trip out west at Puget Sound Monday, Sept. 5 for a 2 p.m. (CDT) kick-off.
