Meghan Batzner to defeat Ripon 4-0.
The Sabres jumped out to a quick start outshooting Ripon 10-4 in the first half. A strong stretch of 5:41 saw Marian score three times to take a big lead. All three came off the foot of Batzner with the first at 30:29, the second at 33:09, and the final at 88:50. Freshman
Savannah Strojny earned the first point of her career with an assist on the second goal.
Marian then never took the foot off the gas firing 18 shots in the second half and holding the Red Hawks to just one shot. Ripon managed to hold the deficit to three goals until just 1:10 remained in the half when senior
Ashley Welk scored her first goal of the season to put the final at 4-0.
Marian finished with a 28-5 advantage in shots and held Ripon to just one shot on goal. Freshman
Chelsea King (1-0-0) stopped that lone Red Hawk shot to earn a win in her first collegiate start.
Marian plays its first home game of the season Wednesday, Sept. 7 hosting Lawrence at 7 p.m.
