History

APPLETON, Wis. - Marian University women's ice hockey (5-10-1, 1-5-0-1 NCHA) used a two-goal second period to defeat Lawrence 3-2 on the road.

Senior Brooke Anderson opened the scoring for the Sabres 9:02 into the first period with a power-play goal for her fifth score of the year. Freshman Aubriella Westphal assisted the play for her third of the season.
Lawrence would even it up, however, just 3:11 later to put the two squads tied at 1-1 after one.
The Sabres were then able to build a two-goal lead in the second period.
Sophomore Allie Kieffer scored her third goal of the season, assists to senior Alyssa Heim and sophomore Madeline Chimenti, aat the 5:16 mark.
Sophomore Sydney Schipper then lit the lamp for the fourth time this season at the 7:59 mark with assists from Anderson and senior Kristen Bisschop.
The Vikings were able to score at the 10:39 mark but Marian was able to hold on for a 3-2 win.

Marian finished with a 40-32 advantage in shots and outshot the Vikings in the first two periods.
The Sabre penalty kill had a strong game holding the Vikings scoreless on seven opportunities with five of those kills coming in the third period.
The Marian power play scored once on eight chances.
Lawrence won 41 faceoffs and Marian had 28 faceoff victories.


Senior Brooke Anderson had her third multi-point game of the season with a goal and an assist.	Junior Kayla Kolpitcke (4-4-1) made 30 saves and had 15 of her stops come in the third period.	Sophomore Allie Kieffer scored a goal and had the best faceoff percentage for Marian.
