FOND DU LAC - A pair of seniors in
Jack Sampson and Parris Harris have been named the Sabres of the Month for December.
Harris (Hammond, Ind.) capped off 2022 becoming the 14th member of the 1,000-point club for Marian University women's basketball. The achievement was accomplished after a 19-point performance against No. 10 Trine to cap off 29 total points at the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Tournament. Harris becomes the first student-athlete to reach 1,000 career points for the women's basketball program since 2017. For the month of December, Harris averaged 13.2 points per game over six games to go with a 5.7 rebounds per game average. On the defensive end, she recorded nine steals.
Sampson (Portage, Mich.) continues to put up points for the Marian University NCAA hockey team and helped lead the Sabres to their fourth Superior Showdown Championship. He netted the game-winning goal in the first game of the Superior Showdown against St. Scholastica before recording four assists in the championship game against Gustavus Adolphus. He also closed out the first half of the season with a goal and an assist in the opening game of the Trine series. On the season, Sampson leads Marian with 16 points and has recorded at least one point in all but two games. He also has three multi-point games with two coming in December.
Marian women's basketball hosts Rockford Wednesday, January 4 for a 7 p.m. tip, while the Sabre men's hockey program hosts MSOE Friday, January 6 at 7 p.m. to open a home-and-home series.
