ANGOLA, Ind. - Marian University men's volleyball (1-0, 0-0 NACC) opened the season with a thrilling five-set win; 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 22-25, and 15-12.

- The largest lead of the opening set was a Thunder 11-7 advantage, but the two squads were tied late 22-22.Â
- Marian was able to then close out the set strong scoring three of the final four points to take the set.
- The Sabres dominated the second set jumping out to a 19-12 lead.Â
- The Thunder were able to cut their deficit to as small as three but Marian was able to hang on.
- The third set saw Trine begin to rally as the Thunder never trailed in the set.
- The largest advantage in set four was once again just four points with Trine managing to pull away late to force a fifth set.
- Just as the whole night had gone, the fifth set was a battle that saw neither team lead by more than two and end up tied 11-11.
- Marian was able to finish strong and score four of the next five points to hang on for the win.
