Marian women's basketball holds off rally to defeat Dominican

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's basketball (6-13, 5-7 NACC) defeated Dominican 68-61.

  • The two squads battled to a 6-6 tie before Marian scored six unanswered to go ahead 12-6.
  • Dominican would score four straight to end the first quarter and opened the second quarter with five unanswered to take a 15-12 lead.
  • The Stars brought their lead out to 16-15 before Marian took the lead for good with 19 unanswered points to go ahead 34-16 with 1:01 left in the half.
  • The Sabres were able to bring their lead out to 36-22 at the half.
  • Dominican chipped away at their deficit to open the third quarter but a late 8-2 run saw Marian take a 54-38 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • Some hot shooting at the beginning of the final stanza saw the Stars cut their deficit down to as small as four points.
  • Marian was able to hold off this rally and went on a 6-1 run to pull away.
  • The strong finish to the fourth quarter saw the final settle at 68-61.

Sophomore Kiara Williams had her sixth double-double scoring 15 points with a program record 28 rebounds.  She narrowly missed a triple-double adding seven assists. Senior Paris Harris narrowly missed a double-double scoring a game-high 22 points with eight rebounds. Freshman Chelsea King chipped in 14 points and had five rebounds.
