Marian women's hockey struggles offensively in opener at Bethel

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Marian University women's hockey (4-7-1, 3-4-1-0 NCHA) was defeated by Bethel 2-0 to open a non-conference series.

  • Neither team could light the lamp in the opening 20 minutes of action.
  • Midway through the second period the Royals would find the back of the net to open the scoring.
  • It proved to be the only score heading into the final stanza.
  • Just 3:57 into the third, Bethel extended its lead 2-0 with a power-play score.
  • Marian spent 1:10 with an empty net but a late Sabre penalty sealed the 2-0 defeat.

Senior Kayla Kolpicke (2-3-1) stopped a season-high 45 shots. It was also her third performance this season with at least 40 saves.
Junior Jadyn Gorski led Marian with four shots on goal.
Senior Alyssa Heim had a winning percentage on face-offs finishing with 11 wins.
