RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Marian University men's volleyball (10-6, 3-2 NACC) dropped three sets by two points falling at Dominican 31-29, 19-25, 25-23, and 25-23.

 

• Neither team led by more than three points in an opening set that went well into extras.
• The Sabres had six set-point chances at the end of the set but the Stars were able to hold off Marian and convert its first opportunity.
• Marian took a 10-6 lead to open the second and then went on 10-3 run to take a commanding 20-9 lead.
• Dominican managed to cut its deficit to as small as four before evening the sets.
• The Sabres once again had a quick start taking a 10-5 lead only to have the Stars tie the set at 14-14.
• Marian was able to pull ahead 21-18, but Dominican once again had a strong finish closing out the set with a 7-2 spurt.
• Using its momentum Dominican jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never trailed in the fourth.
• The Stars led by as much as 17-12 but the Sabres were able to rally and only trail 24-23.
• A service error from Marian, however, sealed the four-set win for Dominican.

 

• Dominican had a 58-48 advantage in kills and hit .255 for the match compared to just .198 for the Sabres.
• Each team had 49 digs and Marian had seven service aces.
• Both teams had strong nights at the net with Dominican recording 13 blocks and Marian 11.

   

Junior Derek Wills had his second double-double of the season with a match-high 18 kills and 12 digs.	Senior Cam Muller had 13 kills to go with five blocks and two service aces.	Junior Aaron Velasco had a match-high 15 digs in the back row.
