Landowski Gem Salvages Split for Marian Baseball

FOND DU LAC - Marian University baseball (12-11, 5-5 NACC) was defeated 14-9 by Illinois Tech before salvaging a split with a 13-0 win in seven innings.

GAME 1
  • Illinois Tech jumped out to a big lead scoring seven runs in the top half of the first.
  • Marian responded scoring three runs in their half of the first followed by a solo home run from junior Andrew Schroeder in the second to cut the deficit down to 7-4.
  • The Scarlet Hawks would score four in the third and built a 14-4 lead with three more unanswered runs.
  • Marian stayed alive in the seventh scoring three runs highlighted by a triple from sophomore Gus Walker that scored two.
  • The Sabres added a run in the eighth and ninth but fell 14-9.
GAME 2
  • The Scarlet Hawks opened the game with a single but it was all they would manage as graduate student Jonah Landowski twirled a gem.
  • The Marian offense opened with four runs in the first inning highlighted by a triple from senior Brady Zackrison that scored two runs.
  • A bases-clearing double from Landowski in the second saw Marian extend its lead to 7-0.
  • Schroeder then went yard in the third for his second long ball of the day, a three-run shot, that put the Sabres up 10-0.
  • The Sabre offense added three runs in the fourth, highlighted by a run-producing double by Schroeder, to put the final at 13-0.

GAME 1
Junior Logan Rademan went 3-for-6 with a run scored and a run driven in.
Sophomore Gus Walker drove in three runs and scored twice as part of a 2-for-5 game.
Sophomore Tanner Alsteen allowed just one hit over the last 2.0 innings.

GAME 2
Junior Andrew Schroeder went 3-for-4 with four runs driven in and two runs scored.
Junior Logan Rademan had a multi-hit game for the third time in the past four games going 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Graduate student Jonah Landowski tossed a one-hit shutout striking out nine.  At the plate, he was 1-for-3 with three driven in and two runs scored.
