Derek Wills of Marian University men's volleyball and senior
Andrea Miller of Marian University softball have been named the Sabres of the Month for April.
Wills (Dubuque, Iowa) had a dominating finish and earned his third All-NACC honor of his career. Wills recorded 53 kills over just three matches for a 4.82 kills per set average to go with a .336 attack percentage. He finished the season with 20 kills against Benedictine and fllowed that up with a 21-kill performance against IIT. Those performances were good for a 5.13 kills per set average and a .322 hitting percentage to earn him his second NACC Offensive Player of the Week award. Wills finished his junior campaign fifth in the NACC with 3.17 kills per set and seventh in the conference with 3.60 points per set.
Miller (Waukegan, Ill.) helped lead the Sabre softball team to a 10-8 record during April putting Marian in the hunt for a spot in the NACC Tournament. Miller hit .410 for the month driving in 12 runs with five home runs and nine runs scored. She had five multi-hit games for the month with a pair of three-hit games. Miller also drove in multiple runs in four games highlighted by a 3-for-3 game in the finale against Edgewood where she drove in four runs and scored twice. She slugged at an .872 clip with three doubles to go with her five long balls. On the season, Miller ranks fourth in the NACC with six home runs and is 13th in the conference with a .650 slugging percentage.
Marian softball travels to St. Norbert Thursday, May 4 for a 3 p.m. NACC doubleheader to open the final weekend of the regular season.
