MONTGOMERY, Ill. - Marian University softball (17-21, 12-12 NACC) was eliminated from the NACC Tournament after falling to Aurora 4-1.

     

• It was another postseason game where pitching was a major factor.
• Aurora was able to open the scoring in the second after back-to-back hits put the Spartans ahead 1-0.
• Neither team managed to get a runner into scoring position until the top of the fifth when Marian tied the game.
• Freshman Morgan Mack opened the inning with a single and was pinch ran for by senior Ivy Stary.
• Fellow senior Kaley Ludvigsen drove Stary in two batters later with a single to tie the game at 1-1.
• Marian was able to put together a two-out rally in the top of the sixth by putting runners on second and third but neither came across.
• A sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the sixth saw Aurora take the lead.
• A costly Sabre error followed and it saw the Spartans score two unearned runs to take a 4-1 lead.
• Marian was able to get a runner on base in the seventh but saw its season come to an end.
• The Sabres left nine runners on base to only three for Aurora.
