Landowski Becomes All-Time Leader for Strikeouts in CUC Twin Bill

FOND DU LAC - Marian University baseball (18-19, 11-11 NACC) fell to Concordia Chicago 11-10 in 10 innings and 23-0 in seven innings to close out the home schedule.

GAME 1
  • Concordia Chicago scored three runs in the first two innings to build an early lead.
  • With his first strikeout in the first inning, graduate student Jonah Landowski struck out his 191st hitter in a Marian uniform making him the all-time leader.
  • The Sabre offense then broke through with four runs in the second and for more in the third.
  • A double from junior Robbie Knorr highlighted the second inning burst and a triple from Landowski in the third highlighted that big inning.
  • The teams traded runs in the fifth and sixth as Marian went ahead 9-4 before the Cougars were able to rally.
  • A grand slam in the seventh cut the Marian lead down to one before CUC scored twice in the eighth to go ahead 10-9.
  • Needing a run in the bottom of the ninth, junior Andrew Schroeder hit his fourth home run of the season to tie the game.
  • The Sabres were able to load the bases but couldn't come up with the walkoff.
  • Concordia Chicago would score one in the 10th to earn the extra innings victory.
GAME 2
  • Game two was all Concordia Chicago as the Cougars scored at least three runs in five of the seven innings to secure a sweep.

GAME 1
Graduate student Jonah Landowski went 6.0 innings striking out seven hitters to become the all-time leader for strikeouts.He was also 2-for-6 at the plate.
Senior Brady Zackrison led the offense going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a run driven in.
Junior Andrew Schroeder was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a run driven in.
