DE PERE, Wis. - Marian University softball (8-4, 2-0 NACC) defeated St. Norbert 5-4 and 9-4 on the road to open NACC play.

GAME 1
-  The Sabre offense got to work quickly with sophomore Ariana Schliepp and junior Kerena Wood each driving in a run to put Marian ahead 2-0.
- St. Norbert would also score a run its half of the first to only trail 2-1.
- A double steal saw freshman Erin Cowe in the third, but the Green Knights scored twice in its half of the frame to tie the game at 3-3.
- The Green Knights were able to take their first lead of the game in the fifth at 4-3.
- Down to their final out, a clutch double from senior Katelyn Matenaer brought home two runs and put Marian ahead 5-4.
- SNC managed to get the tying run into scoring position in the bottom of the seventh, but Marian would hold on for a one-run victory.
GAME 2
- One big inning from the Sabre offense allowed Marian to open NACC play with a sweep.
- SNC scored a run in the first and a run in the second to build an early 2-0 lead.
- A double from Matenaer in the third and triple from fellow senior Evelynn Spaeth in the fourth quickly tied the game at 2-2.
- Marian took its first lead of game two in a big way scoring six runs in the top of the fifth.
- Wood had the big hit of the inning launching a three-run homer for her first long ball of the season.
- After a pair of SNC runs in the sixth cut the Sabre lead down to 8-4, sophomore Alexa Paulsberg drove in a run in the seventh to ice the 9-4 win.
