- It was a slow start for Marian as Northland opened with a 4-0 lead capping off the quick start with a man-up goal with 13 seconds left.
- Marian was able to get on the board just before the buzzer of the first quarter with junior Serge Simard scoring.
- Freshman Alton Reynolds was able to cut the Marian lead down to two to open the second quarter, but the LumberJacks quickly responded with a pair of goals to lead 6-2.
- The Sabres scored three of the next four goals to only trail 7-5, but Northland would score the final goal of the second half to lead 8-5 at halftime.
- Northland had another strong start to the second half scoring four of the first six goals to lead 12-7.
- A goal from junior Trevor Stachowski cut the Marian lead down to eight, but Northland answered with four unanswered.
- This gave Northland a 16-8 lead with 8:06 left to play.
- Marian would score three of the final five goals of the game but couldn't overcome the deficit falling 18-11.
