Marian men's volleyball falls to Dominican in tightly contested matchup

FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's volleyball (15-7, 6-4 NACC) fell to Dominican in a back-and-fourth three set match 27-25, 25-22, 25-22.

Marian came out the gates running with a quick 4-0 lead but the Stars cooled off the Sabres with a 7-3 run.
The two teams would trade points before a 4-1 run by the Stars pushed its lead to three at 14-11.
Dominican pushed its lead to four at 18-14 but Marian crawled back in with a 5-0 run to regain the lead 19-18.
The Sabres extended its lead with a 3-1 advantage before a 5-0 Dominican run gave the Stars the 24-22 lead.
Marian was able to tie things up 24-24 and again 25-25 but Dominican closed out set one 27-25.
Set two saw the Stars get out to an early 4-1 lead and forced a Marian timeout with a 6-4 run.
Marian would go on to score four of the next five points to cut the Stars lead to two.
A 5-2 Sabre run saw Marian take its first lead of set two before Dominican answered with its own 5-2 run.
The three point Dominican lead proved to be the difference maker as an even 4-4 run would give the Stars a 2-0 set lead.
Dominican once again got out to an early 5-3 lead which was followed up by a split 6-6 run between the two teams.
A 4-0 run gave the Sabres its first lead of set three.
The two teams would trade points with multiple tie scores before Dominican took the lead 21-20 and did not surrender the lead the remainder of the set.
Dominican would close out set three and the match with a 4-2 run.

Both offenses had a strong day but Dominican held the advantage in kills 42-38 and hitting percentage .300-.233.
Dominican held an 8-4 advantage in both aces and blocks.
Marian was able to record an impressive .450 hitting percentage in the third set while recording double-digit kills in all three sets.

	Senior Derek Wills led the Sabres offense with 11 kills while adding five digs.
	Senior Aaron Velasco added 10 kills on .300 hitting and recorded a team-high seven digs.
	Senior Nick Stasch recorded 30 assists with two service aces, two blocks, and one dig.
