Trio from Marian men's volleyball earn All-NACC recognition

MILWAUKEE - Three student-athletes from Marian University men's volleyball have been named All-NACC, tied for the second most in a single season in program history, announced the league office Thursday morning.

Senior Derek Wills (Dubuque, Iowa) earns his fourth all-conference award and a spot on the All-NACC First Team for the second time in his career.  Wills had one of the best years of his Sabre career ranking third in the NACC with 3.66 kills per set and fifth in the conference with 3.95 points per set.  He posted double-digit kills in 19 matches during the regular season including a career-high 25-kill performance at home against Aurora.  Wills was also a useful weapon for the Sabres in the back row ranking ninth in the NACC for digs per set at 2.33.  He would post eight dobule-doubles during the regular season and had a season-high 14 digs in three separate matches.  One of those matches came in the five-set match at home against Aurora.  Wills became just the second Sabre in program history to reach 1,000 kills for a career during the season.

Junior Keanu Ouranitsas-Hayes (Hilo, Hawaii) was named to the All-NACC Honorable Mention team for the second time in three seasons as a Sabre.  Ouranitsas-Hayes had a solid campaign at the net finishing with 64 total blocks and a 0.77 blocks per set average that was good for 14th in the conference.  He finished the regular season with 127 kills and had the fourth-best hitting percentage in the NACC at .350.  Ouranitsas-Hayes had four matches where he recorded double-digit kills with a season-best 13 coming against Benedictine, he also hit .500 in that match.  At the net, he had multiple solo blocks in three matches and at least four total blocks in six matches.  His season-best of seven total blocks came against Lakeland where he also had six kills without an attacking error. 

Senior Cam Muller (Elgin, Ill.) closes out his time at Marian with an All-NACC Honorable Mention award, the third all-conference selection of his career.  Muller recorded 114 kills over just 49 sets for a 2.33 kills per set average, good for 21st in the conference.  He also proved to be an efficient hitter finishing the season with a .252 attack percentage that finished 16th in the conference.  Muller had another strong season from the service line where he had 12 service aces where his 0.24 service aces per set average was 17th in the NACC.  He had a good finish to his final campaign recording double-digit kills in five of the final six matches of the season.  At the net, Muller finished with 28 total blocks.  Muller earned one NACC Offensive Player of the Week award after averaging 4.0 kills per set off of a .568 hitting percentage against SNC and Benedictine.

Marian men's volleyball had the second most wins in a single season in 2024 and qualified for the NACC Tournament for the fifth time in program history.  The Sabres also posted a winning record for the third straight season.
