MEQUON, Wis. - Marian University baseball (16-11, 10-4 NACC) secured its first sweep at Kapco Park since 2018 with wins of 3-2 and 4-2 in 10 innings.
Â
GAME 1
- A slow start saw the Falcons score a pair of runs in the first inning to take an early lead.
- A run-producing single from senior Tyler Blum put the Sabres on the scoreboard in the next half inning.
- Junior Jacob Kleeman was able to tie the game with a single in the sixth that scored freshman Marc Jones with two outs.
- Senior Logan Rademan then gave Marian its first lead in the next at bat with another single.
- CUW was able to put the tying run in scoring position in the bottom of the seventh but the Sabres were able to close the door for a one-run win.
GAME 2
- Marian was able to start quick in game two with seniors Albert Kiszka and Robbie Knorr driving in a run each in the first to put the Sabres ahead 2-0.
- The scoring would go quiet with only three runners reaching scoring position between the two teams through the sixth inning.
- The Falcons were able to cut their deficit in half in the seventh before tying the game in the bottom of the ninth.
- A nifty double play from the Sabres would end the threat of a potential walk-off win for CUW.
- Using that momentum, Kiszka would drive in another run in the top of the 10th to put Marian ahead 3-2.
- Junior James Bornick followed with an infield single that put the Sabre lead up to 4-2.
- The Falcons made things interesting in the bottom half putting runners on second and third with one out.
- The Marian defense came up big again catching the runner at third trying to score on a wild pitch for the second out of the inning.
- A ground out at the end of that at bat would seal the Marian sweep.
