- Marian bounced back nicely and controlled the pace of play for the majority of the half.
- Sophomore Emily Gordillo would strike from the corner of the box in the 21st minute to put the game at 1-1.

- Gordillo struck again for her second goal with a blast from 35 yards out at the 67:38 mark to put Marian ahead for the first time.
- This lead didn't last long as the Firebirds tied the game again just 4:50 later.
- Gordillo was then turned away twice by the top woodwork in the 80th and 84th minute to keep the game at 2-2.
- A centering pass that led to a collision in the box saw Carthage retake the lead with 1:07 left in the match.
- Marian was able to send two shots in the final minute, one being on goal, but couldn't find an equalizer.
