Sabre NCAA men's hockey settles for split with LFC

FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's ice hockey (6-9-0, 3-5-0 NCHA) settled for a split against Lake Forest falling 6-2 at home.

It took a while to open the scoring but the Foresters lit the lamp first with 4:47 left in the opening stanza with a power-play score.
Just 1:16 later the Foresters were able to build its lead to 2-0 heading to the second.
Marian had a strong start to the second period and freshman Brendan Bottem scored on a power play just 3:09 into the stanza.
Senior Jaymes Knee and junior Noah Pickart assisted the lone goal of the period.
Lake Forest responded scoring three goals in the first 5:04 of the third period to lead 5-1.
Bottem scored a second goal, assist to sophomore Blake Stafford, with 7:39 to play to cut the Marian deficit to three.
LFC was able to ice the game, however, scoring just 2:06 later.

Marian had a slim 38-36 edge for shots in the game and outshot LFC 17-11 in the final period.
Each team had a power-play goal with Marian having four opportunities and LFC just two.
The Sabres finished with a 39-33 edge in the face-off circle.
Marian falls to 20-28-2 all-time against Lake Forest.

	Freshman Brendan Bottem had the first multi-goal game of his career.
	Senior Jaymes Knee had an assist and is now on a three-game point streak.
	Freshman Tyler Fromolz (4-7-0) finished with 30 saves, his fourth performance this season with at least 30 saves.
