GENEVA, Ill. - Marian University women's ice hockey (4-11-1, 2-6-1 NCHA) led late but fell to Aurora 4-3 in overtime.

- It took the Sabres just 16 seconds to open the scoring when sophomore Ella Spies scored without an assist.
- Then at the 5:16 mark the Sabres put themselves ahead 2-0 when freshman Piper Miller lit the lamp with an assist from senior Sydney Schipper.
- The Spartans cut the deficit in half heading into the first intermission scoring with 5:47 left in the stanza.
- The second period looked like it would go scoreless until another late goal from the Spartans saw Aurora score a short-handed goal with just 2:40 left.
- The 2-2 stalemate was broken with 4:29 to play when senior Jadyn Gorski scored an unassisted power-play goal.
- Aurora had a response netting an equalizing goal with just 1:30 on the clock.
- Then in overtime, Aurora netted the game-winning goal with just 2:03 left to play.

- Marian was outshot 47-19 in the game and didn't have a shot in overtime.
- Face-offs were slightly in favor of the Spartans at 30-27.
- It was a good special teams game for Marian with the power play going 1-for-3 and the penalty kill holding the Spartans scoreless on six chances.
- The three goals scored for the Sabres is the most in a game this season.
- Marian falls to 3-12-1 all-time against Aurora.
