Sabre women's basketball drops homestand opener

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's basketball (3-13, 1-6 NACC) fell to Wisconsin Lutheran 74-59 to open a three-game homestand.

  • A three-pointer from senior Lexi Brakebush put Marian down 8-5 in the opening minutes before WLC scored the next eight points to build a double-digit lead.
  • The Warriors held onto that lead and went into the second quarter ahead 20-10.
  • A strong start to the second quarter saw WLC go on a 10-4 run to lead 30-14.
  • Marian wouldn't go away quietly chipping the deficit down to 10 and only trailing 36-26 going into halftime.
