FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's ice hockey (6-12-0, 3-8-0 NCHA) dropped the opener to the Battle of Highway 41 against Lawrence 5-2 at home.
 
 
	- The Vikings needed just 40 seconds to open the scoring and built a 2-0 lead at the 8:49 mark.
 
	- Marian was able to cut the deficit in half when senior Daunte Fortner scored at the 11:11 mark with an assist to junior Alex Enegren and freshman Edison Weeks.
 
	- The 2-1 lead held heading into the first intermission but the Vikings struck twice in the final 3:41 of the second to lead 4-1.
 
	- Freshman Dayne Tews put Marian behind by just two at the 7:26 mark of the third period with an assist to fellow freshman Brendan Bottem.
 
	- The Vikings were able to put the game away, however, with a power-play score at the 10:58 mark.
 
 
 
	- Marian finished with a 35-21 advantage for shots holding the Vikings to single-digit shots all three periods.
 
	- Each team had one power-play chance with the Vikings scoring on theirs.
 
	- The Sabres won 38 draws to only 17 for Lawrence.
 
	- Marian is now 60-16-10 all-time against Lawrence.
