Marian women's hockey defeats Lawrence in shootout

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's ice hockey (5-11-2, 3-6-2 NCHA) earned two points with a shootout win at Lawrence.

Marian was able to strike quickly when senior Jadyn Gorski scored just 4:52 into the game.
The 1-0 lead held heading into the second period where the Vikings netted a short-handed goal 3:32 in to tie the game.
The defenses took over the rest of the way and after a scoreless third period and overtime session the game went to a shootout.
Junior Jennarae Bateman opened the shootout with a goal and it proved to be the lone score.

Marian finished had a slim 29-26 advantage for shots in the game.
Neither team had a power-play goal with Marian having five chances and Lawrence two.
Lawrence had 30 faceoff wins to 27 for Marian.
Marian is 1-1-1 against the Vikings this season with two of the games going beyond regulation.
The Sabres are 8-2-2 all-time against Lawrence.
