Concordia Wisconsin scored the only goal of the opening period at teh 6:18 mark. Senior Dayna Jones put Marian on the board 5:58 into the second period with assists to senior Jadyn Gorski and sophomore Olivia Laube. It looked like the 1-1 tie would go into the final period before the Falcons scored with 54.6 seconds left to lead 2-1. The Falcons then quickly extended their lead to 3-1 just 1:30 into the third. Senior Michaela Powers was able to get Marian back to within one at the 6:40 mark with assists from senior Sydney Schipper and freshman Piper Miller. This would be as close as Marian managed, however, as the Sabres were unable to find an equalizing goal. CUW finished with a 41-13 edge for shots in the game and 41-11 advantage on draws. Marian had two power-play chances and CUW just one with neither side scoring. The Sabres will now need to win game two of the series to force a mini-game. Marian is now 5-33-6 all-time against CUW and just 2-22-1 on the road. Freshman Sydney Magnuson (6-12-3) finished the game with 38 saves. Senior Jadyn Gorski recorded her 11th point of the season with an assist. Senior Dayna Jones scored her second goal of the season.
