CAROL STREAM, Ill. - Marian University baseball (5-7, 0-0 NACC) fell to Wheaton 7-5 in its final game of the Wheaton Invitational.

- A slow start for the Sabre bats saw Wheaton score one in the third and four in the fifth to lead 5-0.
- Marian found the scoreboard when graduate student Robbie Knorr hit a solo shot in the seventh, his first of the season.
- The Sabres were then able to cut their deficit down to one with three runs in the eighth.
- Marian drew three walks before senior Albert Kiszka cleared the bases with a single to left field to put Marian behind 5-4.
- Wheaton was able to score a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth, but Marian put together another rally in the ninth.
- A two-out walk for senior James Bornick gave fellow senior Jacob Kleemann a chance to drive in a pinch-running Sam Wiederholt with a double to put the Sabres behind 7-5.
- Another walk put the tying run on base but the Thunder were able to hold off the late push with a fly out to left field.
