Sabre baseball suffers sweep at Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Marian University baseball (15-17, 9-9 NACC) suffered just its second NACC sweep of the season falling to Rockford 11-3 and 7-6.

GAME 1
  • Marian was able to open the scoring in the top of the first when senior Logan Rademan drove in a run with a single.
  • The lead didn't last long as Rockford plated three in the first inning and scored 11 unanswered runs through the first four innings.
  • Graduate student Robbie Knorr and sophomore Lucas Lemons drove in runs later in the game as part of the 11-3 final.
GAME 2
  • The Sabres once again scored in the opening inning when graduate student Dylan Pease brought in two runs with a single.
  • Just like game one, Rockford scored three runs in the bottom of the first to immediately erase their deficit.
  • The Regents cushioned their advantage with three runs in the fourth.
  • Another single from Pease in the seventh brought Marian to within three, but a wild pitch after the stretch saw Rockford extend its lead to 7-3.
  • Two singles and a home run from senior James Bornick opened the ninth inning and brought Marian to within one at 7-6.
  • The Sabres were able to get the tying run on base but couldn't do anything with it.
  • Marian is now 22-24 all-time against Rockford having dropped the last three meetings.

Graduate student Robbie Knorr was 5-for-9 on the day with a run driven in and two runs scored.
Senior Logan Rademan finished the day 4-for-8 with two walks.
Freshman Jackson Spejcher went 3.1 innings in game one allowing only three hits with four strikeouts.
