GAME 1
  • A consistent offense was the story of game one as Marian took the opener.
  • After a WLC run in the top of the first, a single from senior Ryan Nelson in the bottom half quickly tied the game at 1-1.
  • The Sabres took the lead for good in the second before sophomore Marc Jones drove in a run in the third.
  • A wild pitch later in that frame put Marian ahead 4-1.
  • Singles from senior Logan Rademan and sophomore Marc Jones in the sixth and seventh put the Sabres ahead 6-1.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran threatened to make things interesting in the ninth but were only able to score one run to put the final at 6-2.
GAME 2
  • The Sabres were able to score again in the first frame of game two followed by a run-producing single from senior James Bornick in the third to put Marian ahead 2-0.
  • Marian added a pair of runs in the fifth when senior Gus Walker used a bunt single and an error to bring home a run followed by a wild pitch.
  • The two squads traded a run in the sixth inning with graduate student Dylan Pease driving home the Marian run to put the Sabres ahead 5-1.
  • WLC answered in the top of the seventh and threatened to take the lead but the Warrirors still managed to tie the game at 5-5.
  • Marian then headed to extras for the first time this season and promptly loaded the bases with nobody in the bottom of the 10th.
  • The first offering to Nelson squirted away from the catcher allowing graduate student Robbie Knorr to touch home for the walk-off victory.
  • Marian is now 67-17 all-time against the Warriors having won the last seven meetings.
  • The Sabres earned the No. 6 seed for the NACC Tournament and open the postseason with a winner-take-all game against CUW.
