Marian men's soccer flashes potential in season-opening tie

FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's soccer (0-0-1, 0-0-0 NACC) fought for 90 minutes, ultimately tying Carthage 0-0 in its season opener.

  • Carthage came out with the first three shots of the game, before sophomore Jay Wolcott's shot attempt at 15:17. 
  • It was a defensive-minded first half with both teams knotted up at 0-0 going into halftime.
  • The second half started similarly; three early shots from Carthage before a Wolcott attempt, followed by a shot from junior Zac Pfister two-minutes later. 
  • Sophomore Brayden Johnson had some promising shot attempts in the second half, with his second shot being just right. 
  • The Sabres stood tall on defense and held a pesky Firebirds team scoreless through 90 minutes.
