FOND DU LAC - Marian University field hockey (1-0, 0-0 CFHC) opened its season with a resounding 8-1 victory over Transylvania.

- The Sabres wasted no time finding the scoreboard when sophomore Clara Guivernau Ragghianti found the back of the net with an assist from senior Allyson Nichols 1:27 into the game.
- Marian then dominated the second quarter and took a 2-0 lead at the 19:01 mark with a score from senior Merel Nagelkerke, assist to freshman Charlotte Touw.
- Then in the final seconds of the second quarter, Nichols scored her first goal of the season, assist to freshman Shaelyn Klassen, to put Marian ahead 3-0 at halftime.
- Touw and Guivernau Ragghianti teamed up 4:51 into the third quarter to put Marian ahead 4-0.
- Nichols and senior Jikke Biemans each assisted each other in a pair of goals separated by just 3:28 as the Sabres took a 6-0 lead into the final quarter.
- A quick strike from Touw 1:36 into the fourth quarter saw Marian continue to build its lead before Transylvania ended the shutout at the 49:14 mark.
- Just 1:18 later, Guivernau Ragghianti netted her second goal of the game to put the final at 8-1.

- Marian held a 26-3 advantage for shots in the game and 21-3 edge for shots on goal.
- The Sabres were able to force 13 penalty corners.
- Marian had 31 fouls to 25 for the Pioneers.
- The Sabres improve to 4-0 all-time in season-opening games.
- The eight goals scored is the third-most in a single game in Marian history.
- Marian is now 3-1 all-time against Transylvania with this being the first meeting between the two squads at Smith Field.
