RICHMOND, Ind. - Marian University field hockey (4-0, 0-0 CFHC) is off to its first 4-0 start in program history after defeating Wittenberg 5-1 at Earlham.

- Marian was able to open the scoring at the 8:42 mark when senior Jikke Biemans scored without an assist.
- The Sabres pushed the lead to 2-0 with a goal from freshman Charlotte Touw 1:34 into the second quarter, assist to fellow freshman Shaelyn Klassen.
- The 2-0 advantage held going into halftime but Biemans was back at it scoring her second goal of the game just seven seconds into the second half.
- The Tigers opened the fourth quarter with their first goal of the game but Marian was able to score twice to put the game out of reach.
- Touw netted the first just 39 seconds after the Wittenberg goal and then Biemans secured a hat trick at the 54:02 mark to put the final at 5-1.
- Marian didn't allow a single shot until the fourth quarter finishing with a 22-3 advantage for the category, 19-3 for shots on goal.
- The Sabres also held a 14-4 edge for penalty corners.
- This is the first 4-0 start for the Sabre field hockey program in its history.
- This was also the first meeting between Marian and Wittenberg.
