Sabre field hockey suffers setback in double overtime

MEQUON, Wis. - Marian University field hockey (6-1, 0-0 CFHC) suffered its first setback of the season falling 1-0 in double overtime at Concordia Wisconsin.

  • It was a game that was dominated by defense as the two squads only combined for 15 shots in regulation.
  • The Falcons outshot Marian 3-1 in the opening quarter before Marian finished with a 5-0 edge in a dominating second quarter.
  • After a scoreless third quarter, each team only had one shot in the final quarter of regulation.
  • With more space to work with, both sides played a fairly even first overtime, but still, nobody was able to score.
  • The Sabres had an 8-3 edge for shots in the second overtime, but CUW was able to score on a penalty corner with only 44 seconds left.
