Chelsea King eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in her Sabre career with a 17-point effort, though Marian University women's basketball (1-15, 1-7 NACC) fell 60-48 at Rockford.

- Marian missed its first six shots before freshman Ava Kreger's layup put the Sabres in the scoring column with 6:45 left in the first quarter. Â
- Senior Chelsea King got rolling early, scoring the Sabres' final four field goals and accounting for eight points in the first quarter.Â
- Kreger's free-throws tied the score at 21-21, but Rockford responded with ten unanswered points. King ended the drought with a layup with 35 seconds left in the half.
- The Sabres entered halftime trailing 33-23.Â
- Rockford led by as many as 14 to start the third before Marian slowly chipped away at the lead. Freshman Holly Goodwin tallied six points and two steals in the quarter to trim the Regents' advantage down to as few as three.Â
- Both teams slowed in the fourth quarter, with Marian scored just two field goals, both by freshman Jon'Niyah Akins.Â
- The Regents held a double-digit lead for most of the fourth quarter, handing Marian its seventh consecutive loss.Â

- King became the 15th player in Marian women's basketball history to score 1,000 or more career points. Nicole Paulus was previously the most recent inductee to the 1,000-point club, having scored 1,056 points from 2013-17.Â
- Rockford picked up its first win of the 2025-26 season, entering the game 0-14 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
- Despite a season-high 30 three-point attempts, Marian connected on only three (.100), setting a new season-low in three-point percentage.Â
- The duo of Te Simpson and Katie Paredes led Rockford with double-doubles. Simpson ended with 16 points and 16 rebounds, while Katie Paredes added 17 points and 10 rebounds.Â
- The Regents lead the all-time series against the Sabres 22-18, as the teams met for the 40th time today.
- Marian has lost five of its last seven meetings with Rockford, although they won the most recent matchup, a 78-75 win on Feb. 15, 2025.
