Marian women's ice hockey rallies past MSOE

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's ice hockey (10-9-0, 7-6-0 NCHA) reached double-digit wins for the second time in program history with a 4-2 win over MSOE.

  • The Raiders were able to get out to a strong scoring just 3:02 into the game on a power play.
  • This proved to be the lone score of the opening period.
  • MSOE had a similarly strong start to the second period scoring another power-play goal 2:21 into the stanza.
  • The Sabres were able to cut their deficit in half when junior Ella Spies lit the lamp at the 7:23 mark.
  • Junior Catherine Yasenak then tied the game with 4:10 left in the second period with help form Spies and fellow junior Olivia Church-Sowinski.
  • Exactly one minute later, seniro Logan Crawford gave Marian its first lead of the game with an assist from junior Olivia Laube.
  • Marian was able to put the game away at the 10:49 mark of the third period when sophomore Piper Miller lit the lamp, assist to sophomore Zowie Hunter.

  • MSOE finished with a 27-22 advantage for shots in the game.
  • Face-offs also favored the Vikings at a 28-20 clip.
  • Both power-play units had a strong night with Marian going 1-for-2 and MSOE 2-for-4.
  • Marian is now 4-3-0 all-time against MSOE with this being the first game the Sabres scored multiple goals.

Junior Ella Spies had a goal and an assist.
Sophomore Jillian Traver (8-5-0) finished with 25 saves including all 10 third-period shots she saw.
Sophomore Piper Miller scored her seventh goal of the season.
